Dr. Daniel Kou, DDS
Dr. Daniel Kou is the proud owner and operator of Core Dentistry, where he and his wife, Karen, have built a practice designed to serve their neighboring communities for decades to come. His passions in dentistry include surgery, sedation, and cosmetic solutions, but at the heart of it all is his love for helping families. With years of experience working with children and caring for patients of all ages, Dr. Kou brings a warm, family-first approach to every visit.
Dr. Kou was born and raised in the suburbs of Toronto, ON, and moved to the United States at the age of 16, already knowing that dentistry was the path he wanted to pursue. With numerous family members in the dental field, including his parents, uncles, aunts, and cousins, dentistry was woven into his upbringing. A natural knack for science and a steady, skilled hand made the decision an easy one. He went on to earn his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Le Moyne College in Syracuse, NY, followed by his Doctor of Dental Surgery from SUNY Buffalo. He completed his General Practice Residency at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, OH, gaining valuable hands-on experience across a wide range of dental procedures.
After 26 years of dealing with cold northern winters, Dr. Kou decided it was time for a change. Together with Karen, who was born and raised in Texas, he moved to the Dallas–Fort Worth area to put down roots. His passion for dentistry continued to grow, and he ultimately decided the best way to deliver the kind of care he envisioned was to open his very own practice. Today, Dr. Kou is fortunate to live just minutes from Core Dentistry, allowing him to be close to both his family and the community he proudly serves.
Dr. Kou takes pride in staying ahead by completing more than the minimum continuing education required and learning new techniques in his free time. Education and lifelong learning are deeply important to him, and he strives to lift up his team members so they can deliver an even better experience for every patient and their family.
When Dr. Kou isn't at the office, he enjoys watching movies, playing video and board games, exploring Dallas, and staying active through exercise. He's also a self-described thrill seeker and outdoors person who loves adventurous activities like snowboarding, swimming, rock climbing, and roller coasters. One day, he hopes to try skydiving and deep-sea diving.
Dr. Kou credits much of his success and inspiration to the people who have supported him along the way. His wife, Karen, continues to give him the strength to pursue his dreams. His parents motivated him to pursue the highest levels of life and achievement. And the doctors in his family helped shape his focus on education and excellence, including Dr. Jane Kou, Dr. Mark Hsu, Dr. Maria Liu, Dr. Peter Kou, Dr. Keith Kou, Dr. Rosemarie Phen, and Dr. Jonathan Ce.
